White Bear Knutsford

A £183,000 investment by Star Pubs & Bars in a £200,000 joint refurbishment with licensees Jamie Whittaker and Kelly Vickers saw The White Bear in Knutsford transformed from a drinkers pub into a top-quality family-friendly local with the best beer garden in town.  

Outside, an alfresco eating and drinking area was created.  An eclectic mix of seating with deep cushioned low chairs and high wooden bar stools creates an inside-outdoor look and feel with a wood burner providing year-round appeal.   A pergola, architectural mirrors and festoon lighting add to the ambience.

Inside the pub’s traditional character has been retained with more soft furnishings improving customer comfort and a brighter décor.

A new commercial kitchen was also created to enable The White Bear to offer food for the first time, and appeal to a family market.

Says Kelly: “Locals have really loved the new look and having a high-quality family friendly pub on their doorstep.  The investment has brought The White Bear up to date and broadened its appeal.  Opening a new pub during a pandemic isn’t ideal, but we’ve been encouraged by feedback from locals and the increasing numbers of people now coming out as restrictions have been lifted and the days are getting warmer and longer.”
