A pub where amazing food and the greatest events combine to create the best of atmospheres!
The Halfway in Llanelli really offers the best of every world. With a real focus on sporting events, vibrant parties in their refurbished function room, great food, a fantastic pub garden and of course, always keeping the drinks flowing, this pub has a little bit of everything!
A warm welcome awaits
Rob and Sam are life-long friends who both had a dream of realising the potential of this incredible pub. It’s safe to say, that when we visited, they had exceeded all their expectations! As Sam said:
“Both Rob and I entered the hospitality industry at a young age. I started working locally at the Scarlet Stadium, I quickly fell in love with the industry and gained further experience in various independent restaurants around the town.”
Rob continued: “My journey began with studying event management at university. I've always had a passion for managing pubs, so when the opportunity arose to run this fantastic pub, Sam and I knew we had to take it. And that's how we took over The Halfway.”
Transforming The Halfway – but not too much
Since taking over, they’ve made numerous changes to enhance the pub, while preserving its unique character. As Sam mentioned, “We received messages from the community hoping we wouldn’t modernise it too much – so we've focused on making the most of what was already there.”
They tackled the big things first, they installed new lighting and flooring, invested heavily in the upstairs function room, and expanded the outside garden with a new patio and a ‘stretch’ tent that can accommodate up to 60 covers, all in addition to their outside terrace. They even added new parking to better serve their customers too.
But Sam and Rob realised it’s the little details that matter, so they made sure to keep as much character of the pub as they could, and they even started to redecorate the bar with different bottles and signed shirts to reinforce the sporting theme and keep things local.
Their commitment goes far beyond sport
You can see the passion that emanates from everyone who works at The Halfway, and they’re incredibly passionate about what they do here. They also showcase each aspect of the venue by creating promotional videos for social networks that focus on the food, the drinks, the atmosphere and anything else they can think of.
And it’s not just making every sporting event as good as it can be to witness, it’s about truly engaging the local community. The kitchen team works tirelessly to provide fresh, high-quality food and ensure everything they offer is not only delicious but also Instagrammable too.
After every major game, there are live bands or DJs and they also host comedy nights, quiz nights and legendary summer garden parties that showcase themes as diverse as house, techno and Ibiza favourites right through to 80s anthems. Ensuring there’s always something for everyone.

“Running our own pub gives us the freedom to implement our ideas and put our unique stamp on everything we do. We love working with our young team, coaching and helping them grow. Many have been with us since they were 17 and are now in leadership roles.” We can’t wait to see what they do next!
