The Whitemoor on Nuthall Road Reopens After £410,000 Revamp

The much-anticipated reopening of The Whitemoor on Nuthall Road, Bobbersmill, following a major £410,000 refurbishment by HEINEKEN owned Star Pubs & Bars & Bars1, took place today to the delight of local residents.

The Whitemoor, which has been closed since 1st March, was due to re-open in early May but Covid halted the completion of the project, leaving locals to wait for a further three months before having a glimpse of the stunning transformation.

The large new family friendly pub is ideal for social distancing, with seating inside for 75 with room outside for a further 75 to enjoy alfresco eating and drinking.  The outside now has a patio at the front of the pub with tables and chairs, pergola and festoon lighting and a courtyard garden at the back of the pub.

Inside there is a casual dog-friendly bar area with tables and chairs and large high definition screens showing Sky TV and BT sports.  There is also a comfortable stylish dining area with booth style seating separated by screens, which were part of the original design before Covid happened.

New publican, Callum Marshall has put measures in place to ensure customer safety and to meet health & safety guidelines. These include a one-way system, hand sanitisation points, greater use of table service using an ordering app,  point-of-sale to remind customers about social distancing, single use menus, an enhanced cleaning regime, Covid safety staff training and Covid-safe certification by independent health experts, Shield Safety.

Once the Government gives the go-ahead for pubs to host events, Callum will introduce weekly quizzes, regular live music and fun family days.

Says Callum: “It’s been fantastic to open the doors to the community today.  People are delighted with the transformation. We’ve worked hard to create a wonderful pub, which I believe we’ve done.  There has been an enormous amount of local interest in the plans for The Whitemoor, as there is no family friendly pub in walking distance of Bobbersmill that does food.

“We’ve signed up to The Eat Out to Help Out scheme, though there are only a few days left to benefit from it, so it is advisable to book. However, we offer great value food all the time, so I don’t think customers who miss out on that will be disappointed.

“I’ve moved to the pub now and am enjoying meeting local residents who I would like to thank for making me feel at home.”

Star Pubs & Bars Regional Operations Director, Helen Fingland said: “The timing couldn’t have been better to invest in The Whitemoor.  It is giving local residents a fantastic pub on their doorstep, which is increasingly important as more people are spending time working at home and socialising in their communities.”
